Hello everyone!
My name is D.K. Johnston and I am the Executive Producer and Creator of "Alaska Filmmakers" a web series for filmmakers, by filmmakers, about filmmakers. Working with some of the state's up and coming filmmakers we have created a series aimed at highlighting production talent in Alaska. Our hosts will be sitting down with local independent filmmakers and production groups, as well as members of SAG, IATSE, and the Alaska Film Office to talk about what inspired them to join the entertainment production industry. The program also hopes to provide an educational resource for aspiring actors and filmmakers here in Alaska.
In the past few years Alaska's production industry has begun to re-surface in a big way. Thanks to the recent Alaska Film Production Incentive more and more Alaskans are being given the opportunity to work on various productions filming within the state. The recent increase in our film industry has also opened the door for many filmmakers already living in the state, and producing their own material. Directors, producers, writers, editors, cinematographers, electricians, and more have now been able to put their skills to work on national and internationally recognized productions. Perfecting their craft along side seasoned professionals who have worked all over the world.
Every artists has a story to tell and "Alaska Filmmakers" looks to bring those stories to you and rest of entertainment industry as we meet some of Alaska's storytellers. Filming begins this week with the series premiere in early spring of 2011. Episodes will then be posted weekly on our up and coming website as well as other popular video sites. We look forward to talking with our guest and hope that you will join us online this spring. Be sure to check in with our blog for updates on the production.
